Looking at wiz - I think the one of the things we are often at odds with is the different schools of magic for different situations. The problem, as I see it, is that Wizards want to use the most mana efficient spell all the time. This limits the variety in spells used. Most of the time, the wizard will use the newest spell because it is the most efficient. If it's not efficient, the spell level feels "bad." (Look at level 12).

My idea is that we have a general nuke and that this nuke can be customized by the incantation system. Can change it to Frost/fire/lightning which all have different effects.

For instance, the wizard can just cast magic burst without any incantation - maybe that has a higher crit rate/maybe gives the wizard/group haste or gives the wiz a higher crit rate buff. We can then use the incantation system to change magic burst into a different element, each with a different secondary effect. For instance, make it a fireball - Bonus damage and a burn to the mob that you can stack, but maybe higher mana cost. Frost can increase your mana regeneration by putting a buff on the wizard (active gameplay). Lightning can interrupt spells/make the mob vulnerable to damage/put on the spellcaster slow/or give the wizard haste (just some ideas, doesn't need to be all).

This shifting of a singular spell into a different spell line solves some of the problem of lower level spells of different spell lines from being forgotten. I think shifting to spell lines to do different things is better. It takes away from "What's the most efficient spell i can spam" to "what do i need right now." I think it makes a meaningful loop also. Can use frost for regen, can use lightning for vulnerability on the mob etc etc. It also allows devs to tune damage based on secondary effect at the spell level so the wizard feels like using the different elements is worth it and not a handicap.

I think the marks of magic stacks limits choices. Wizards always want to stack up to 5 marks, so they always need to cast magic missiles first. But maybe don't make it stacks, make it "lightning" spell, or magic, that makes them vulnerable to damage.

Generally, reclaim magic just doesn't feel great to use. It wipes the marks off the mob to get back mana - then you have to begin again, building up those stacks.

With the loop, the wizard can survey the situation and decide what spell to use. The damage can be modified based on the spell type and secondary effect, and reward wizards for setting up the damage, and plowing bigger damage in when needed, but also regen mana through spell lines and damage rather than a one tap button. It makes spells more interesting to use and gives wizards a meaningful choice rather than, let me spam the most efficient one.
