Deathrite Many of your assertions lack data, and I'm really curious if NWC starts providing more of it whether or not you'd change any of your opinions
Pretty much all my data agrees closely with what other wizards are saying here on this forum. The only thing I've pushed back on are silly claims like melee can sustain 200+ dps. Someone may have seen a melee do that once ... but not without burning cooldowns. But everything else: mana ratios, sustained damage vis a vis other classes, burst DPS and total burst potential -- we're all using the same numbers. The disagreement is over the conclusions we draw from those numbers.
Rregarding resist rates. That's rather a different question than the point I've been advocating, and I'm perfectly prepared to agree they could use revision.
Deathrite What does burst mean on a timeline?
If I understand your question properly, there's two appropriate time windows for computing a damage metric: the length of an encounter, and the length of an experience session. For those like myself who rate players and groups primarily by the toughest content they can beat, then metric #1 is what counts. For those who rate their characters by nothing more than how quickly they can grind to max level -- well metric #2 is their baby.
