Stone You can and will get double shrinked when it matters, mostly because other players want you to STOP BEING SO BIG.
The stun will be useful because elementalist has no access to a single interrupt except the stun attached to the air pet. But if you use the air pet, then you don't have any form of CC, so you would tend to use the earth pet for root. But if you use the root pet, you are forced to simply eat every single gate in the game, which is terrible. So you can see how this would be pretty useful.
As for the stats, honestly play what you like, these minor stat point differences will never be the cause of wiping or being unable to do content. Capping out your main stat won't be impossible, and will become easier as the game goes on.
