Unchainedfury Thanks!
I agree on minimum durations. I mostly used 1 second as the unit because it's easy math. That's probably too much, but I still believe you should earn at least some minimum duration with stats/levels. That wouldn't be game-breaking, and it makes sense that you'd be better at charming as you grow.
I was trying to stray away from stances, which is why I suggested docking mana regen as a means of creating a very difficult hurdle to overcome, but not insurmountable for skilled/highly geared players. It also does allow for more choice instead of forcing a player to adopt one method or the other.
But I'd be okay with stances, too, if that's the appropriate and balanced solution. Fell's suggestion sounds fine.
My main issue is almost every class in the game brings some sort of meaningful DPS to the table in some form. Druid, shaman, and tanks aren't negligible DPS. Cleric may be the exception here, but didn't they receive some DPS buffs in their deep dive? Nuking charm into the ground removes our meaningful DPS. I don't want shadowkin DPS to be massively increased, either. That's super boring pet class. Ench charm is an entirely different spin on a pet class.
And gosh darn it, charming is just downright fun. It's great seeing all the threads and comments about it. It really reinforces my belief that charm is one of our core pillars. I believe the devs will eventually get this right. Wanted to offer my creative idea.
