Trying to formulate my long term stat plan, obviously INT does most of the heavy lifting. But what's next for your all?
Dex for crits?
AGI to help with kiting?
Strength to smack and carry things?

It seems to be unpopular, but I am going STR to carry things. Not being able to port or gate due to weight issues really stinks, and my starting race is gnome, which has complete trash starting STR.

Brettanomyces There seems to be conflicting information out there on the impact of dex to spell hit, crits etc.

Would love to get clarification from the devs.

I know there’s a desire to let players determine the impact of stats over time on our own. That seems in contrast with the requirement to pick your initial race, racial traits, starting traits, stats, etc.

Gear will overcome a lot, but feeling that your character is under-optimized based on incomplete information isn’t a great feeling.

I’d prefer a system that allows us to select those characteristics at a later level, or at least have clarity on respec mechanics.

Ice at the end of the day it's just 10 points to distribute. end game that's not gonna make much difference unless you absolutely must have everything min/max perfect - seeing how the game is very much still a moving target, definitely not something to really sweat over.

Ice Digging through discord, I found Ali saying Dex affects Spell Hit rate 3 years ago. Unsure how valid that still is. Found from Xilith a few days ago saying Dex helps your channeling chance for spells.

jobanab Dex currently does nothing for spell crit.

Brettanomyces Dex does not affect crit rating. Dex only helps you to maintain channeling, which can assist you from getting interrupted occasionally but you dont want to be hit anyways.

With the current items in the game, you want to just stack INT and then if an item has STA / DEX then great. But thats really it. You do not have the HP to sustain getting hit, even by a pack of 4 greens mobs at level 60.

INT > DEX > STA > AGI > whatever else your gear gives you.

People talking about carrying things...you don't need to. You're a wizard, Harry. You go off to the side, bind yourself to a reasonably safe spot, and then portal back to town, and then come back. You will be back in minutes if you do it right. Wizard does not care about str for holding items. Leave all those rusty weapons on the ground, the copper is heavy enough.

Stat descriptions say that WIS should also giving mana regeneration. Is the description's wording wrong and WIS only gives mana regeneration if it's the highest of INT vs WIS?

I suppose if Dex doesn't really help a wizard, you might be better off dumping those left over points after maxing Int on character creation into either STA or AGL to take\avoid hits.
