Question about Necro in a Duo.

Hello I wanted to ask the Necros out there what would be a more all around, ideal duo partner.

My wife 100% wants to play a necro. I also would enjoy a pet class. So i was wondering if having two necros as a duo is a good pairing? I believe it would be.. Both have fear, pets, life drains, FD, etc. and we would share class quests etc. I feel it would work well for a lot of things.

I'm not sure how welcome in a group setting it would be though. I can't imagine having two necros LFG would be that sought after though. I'm not sure. We def want to duo. but we also are not totally anti-social and would love and enjoy grouping and helping others. not sure how two necros would fair here?

My other option which i am honestly leaning slightly more toward would be to run an Ele with her Necro. I think the two would complement each other well and bring diff things to the duo, like more utility, some added DD, and might be easier to get a group then having two necros.. I would miss the idea of double FD though.. lol.

Anyways I was just wondering what all you Necros out there think? I'm really at a 50/50 and could go either way personally. I was just curious as to what you all think would be the better duo option long term. These will be our main characters btw.

I also realize the game is In EA and all things can/will change with re-works, re-visions, class updates, balancing etc. I'm just going off the info we have at this time and the time of EA release.

Two necros aren't the very best duo, but they're certainly pretty damn effective. The worst thing that can happen to a necro solo is losing the pet, and a second pet allows you time to resummon.

That said, your point about finding groups is very valid. Have you considered mage/necro? A wee bit easier to duo and find groups -- though you do lose the option to both flop if a situations goes south.

I'm not totally opposed to a wizard. I enjoy caster classes in general. The ports though would be nice for sure. I was thinking more of a pet class, but no opposed to a wiz.

Do you feel a Wiz or an Elementalist would pair better with a necro as a long term duo partner? since you mention Wiz as an option.

I think you would have fun as a duo up until mid teens but then it would really slow down 20+ and definitly would impact getting in groups as 2 Necros. The main issue is you do not have a tank or healer, I think you actually may enjoy a Necro/BST combo as they synergize well and the BST pet could try and tank trash mobs and BSTs are in a very goo dplace right now and you may have better luck as a duo getting into groups as a necro/Bst. Pally/Necro could also be good and man do groups always need a tank so you may have good luck there too getting groups but also duoing trash content

Excluding the savings in travel time a wizard brings, a two-pet duo is going to be significantly stronger.

Nyxan Wizard is actually a pretty good duo partner to a pet class as it is good at shortening fights reducing the damage the pet takes. Wizard got good mana regen with high burst damage making it fit in a duo that spends a decent amount of time meditating.

BST is more useful if your plan is to instead constantly kill lower level enemies with little rest.

Thanks for all the info and feedback. It's given me some other options and choices to delve into.

Hadn't really considered a Bst since it is a melee class. but sounds like it would fit well, as does a wiz for multiple reasons including dps down mobs quicker to help the necro out..

I haven't heard anything about Ele though as it was an initail option as a duo partner with the Necro. is it just not really compatible with a Necro? does it not synergize or would a wiz/Bst be better?

Nyxan I just didn't mention Elementalist as it was the most obvious alternative and it's already been mentioned by someone else. It's an upgrade over double Necro as you get access to other tools.

Necro is also a bit special in that right now so wouldn't I recommend the class to anyone who wants to group as it's the least wanted class in large groups. It's fine in a duo though. But Necro haven't had it's deep dive yet so it's likely to change things around.

I've been having a lot of fun duoing as a rogue with my necro pal, as there's a lot of synergy that's shown itself between the 2 classes - but obviously not a caster 😃

Raybane I think I am leaning more Ele. more/diff utility, (the summons seem cool) and would be more welcome in groups, I'm guessing. I appreciate your feedback man.

NarcolepticLTD That's pretty cool really. sounds like an interesting combo. I'm guessing the necro pet 'tanks' and the rogue follows behind backstabbing? The stealth and sap could come in handy for sure. Never would have guessed they had a good synergy. Are they decent with small camps? or basically solo mobs?

Nyxan usually we're fear kiting, but the rogue can tank well enough on blues - the necro has some healing available and both classes do good DPS - also between FD and vial of shadows we can both drop aggro completely on a bad pull - also adds the ability to interrupt (jab, blind, uppercut) to the duo as well as some peel with the stun. This little set up brings downtime to a minimum and TTK isn't bad either.

I think the only classes that wouldn't pair well with a Necro are tanks and melee who will draw aggro and make the Necro snare/fear combo pointless.

The best duo is a Necro/Necro Duo...but it depends on the individual's playstyle and what they're seeking.

This takes priority over the best duo formula, what you most enjoy.
