This song could really be a useful tool when doing wipe recovery but the limitations placed on it make it way less useful of a tool. For instance, once we had a replacement healer on the way to our group in VoZ and they died somewhere along the way. Our healer needed to leave and we finally got a replacement but they died on the final stretch of the run from NH. I thought I could help out, by getting their corpse and drag it to our cleric before she left for a rez. The restriction of the corpse location song by having to have the dead person in the zone just means we have to wait for the now naked and helpless healer to try to make their run again from NH. Our cleric had to leave so our entire group was on hold while I tried to search for the corpse on my own. The healer tried to relay the location they were in, but I could not find them. I seem to remember in EQ the song would point the bard at the nearest corpse if you did not have a target. That would have been at least a bit more helpful. So I wait until the healer makes it to the zone line and I can see them in the group. I'm still out looking for their corpse in the middle of the zone. I think ok, great, at least I can target them now that they are in the zone and we can get their body back at least. Nope! You have to be nearby the player to target it properly for that song. So now I have to find them in the zone and ask them to stay still while I try to figure out where their body is. They think they know so they go running one way and my song is pointing me in another direction. We get separated and I once again am too far away to restart the song if needed. This just seems overly complicated and not as helpful as it should be. I know the SK and Necro versions of corpse recover work complete different. We have a unique song that still requires the bard to go into the dangerous area to retrieve the corpse, can we at least be given a chance to work on it before waiting for dead player to run all the way back?
Thanks for listening to my rant. I loved these quirky songs we had in EQ and look forward to more fun stuff like that being added. Bard is my favorite class and I can't wait to start my journey in MnM again in October.
