I'm making this thread in order to both request the addition of Dwarf Inquisitors as a race/class combo, and to present my case as to why this decision would benefit MnM.
Problems that the lack of Dwarf Inquisitors create
Only two races available at EA launch. Humans, the most boring race available. Nothing more dull than playing a high fantasy game and selecting human as your race. And deep elves, but we don't talk about knife ears. This leads to players refusing to play the class until their preferred race is available. Which then leads to an even greater tank shortage. With Inquisitors having consistently been one of the three least played classes throughout the development process, giving players a greater incentive to pick the class through an additional race/class combo would only become a net positive for the game. More Inquisitors, and more tanks overall.
Next, Deep Dwarves are an evil aligned race. They also look weird. Both or either of these facts can be a major turn off to some. The class fantasy of an Inquisitor is to investigate, track down, and wipe out a necromancer coven. Deep Dwarves give the impression that they'd be working with the necros. The "going full Judge Dredd on evil casters" fantasy of the class would feel better suited to Dwarves, not Deep Dwarves. Note that I'm not arguing against Deep Dwarf Inquisitors, just that they'd embody a different aspect of the anti-caster shtick.
Reasons to include Dwarf Inquisitors
It's a popular demand. I understand that there was a Discord poll to let the community pick which new race/class combo to add to the game between Goblin Wizards and Dwarf Inquisitors, and that the results were pretty much even. A lot of players want this.
Dwarves can already be Fighters and Enchanters. Inquisitors being a mix of the two - even post rework - means that they're perfectly suited to being Dwarves. Inquisitors are described as, and I quote "driven folk who will get a job done no matter the cost - and in the most direct manner imaginable", which fits the traditional Dwarf fantasy of being a no non-sense, ornery race.
Inquisitors would also fit into the Dwarf race as a whole as investigators or detectives working with dwarven leadership to keep clans safe from evil doers. And while Trolls can also be Fighters and Enchanters but not Inquisitors, Trolls are described selfish and independent. As such, Inquisitors being a baseline race/class combo for Dwarves makes sense, while Inquisitors being an additional race/class combo unlocked through a post-1.0 quest makes more sense for Trolls. In other words, Inquisitors already fit the Dwarven mold and can be integrated into the game world without requiring any lore or quests explaining their existence.
Arguments against Dwarven Inquisitors
"It's more work for the devs!" It's literally just changing a value in a spreadsheet. No need for extra texture/modeling/animation work. No need to have a team of writers come up with an explanation to make the whole thing fit into the game.
"Just play a Human." Hard pass. The fact that Humans are an available race/class for Inquisitors is good. That doesn't mean me and a whole lot of other people don't want to be a boring old human. Yeah some people look at a game with hundreds of races and thousands of classes and make a Human Fighter name Joe who fights with a sword and shield. But not everyone wants that.
"Ok, so play an elf instead". You now have an entire chapter of the Book of Grudges dedicated to you and your descendants.
