Okay, the question is: best race for Ranger!?

Ocellus

Greetings all:

Apologies, I didn't see the other post (race stats) about this, but I can't figure out how to delete the post so what the hell:

With the revamp, I'm stoked to run a Ranger main, but I'm so torn on class it's painful. A halfling ranger would be adorable, an ogre ranger is just funny, wood elf has that possibility of continual shade, human is what I've always run (however I really want to try something different) but I'm not very excited about the human trait set.

So....what is everyone thinking!?!?!? What combo or race and skill sets are you most jacked up to try?

Ghorast

Ocellus Well the mathematically objectively correct answer is halfling because nothing can compete with their 15 piercing.

Aight... 2 "points" on that +15 piercing

First: Shhhhhhh I was trying to keep that on the down low, I already have my halfling ranger locked and ready 🙂
Second: They will probably change that before it goes live anyways 🙁

Ghorast

Timotron For the good of the game they probably should, making halflings 3 levels higher is just absurd.

Thematically, Halfling Rangers just looks fun!! But, I really love the Wood Elves, especially the new traits they’ll eventually get ( little friendly bear ). So who knows!

I would not write off the bear one. That “protection” ability could be clutch for rangers. We’ll have a nice base of HPs.

So in the fight that the Tank is getting hammered, and the healer is running on fumes trying to keep up….

Popping that ability to take 50% of the tanks damage for 15 seconds. That could very well be plenty to allow the healer to keep them alive.
And while tanking for 15 seconds as a ranger might not go well. Absorbing only 50% damage for 15 seconds should be easily survivable for a ranger.

Keltickope I wonder how the damage numbers work for the protection ability. If a mob hits for 100 and you use it on a plate wearer vs a cloth wearer, do you absorb half of the damage the target would take after the target's armor mitigation? If so, it could be deadly to protect a high stamina cloth wearer like a necro because that would be unmitigated hits for the ranger.
