[unknown] I'm kind of in the same boat. It just seems like so much trouble and doesn't really approach the nostalgia-fueled class fantasy anymore. I can respect that they want to do their own thing with the class, but so far it just seems like a worse version of the 99 shaman. If you think that class had too much going for it, that's fine, but I'm just not interested in going along for that ride when I can play a cleric or druid instead and get either a version of what the class only dreamed it could be (druid) or at least a new spin on what we know and love with the this-game-is-now-impossible-to-balance CH mechanic trimmed off, plus an extra flourish or two (cleric).
If the "fix" is pushing people away from the class--both people who've tested it and people who were excited about the class beforehand--that's an indicator that you might need another pass. I think we're seeing the same thing among chanters now, and that's notwithstanding the fact that charm has been a broken mechanic for 25 years. It definitely needs to be reined in, but the complaints we're seeing about spell level gaps, not being worth the risk anymore, etc., (assuming they're legitimate)--that strikes me as a very different criticism from "this used to be OP, and now it's not", which is the same thing we've got with shaman. The class doesn't reward me for fulfilling my character fantasy: It punishes me instead.
