I got a rat. He was a nice rat.
He was a hungry rat and I tried to feed him bread/vegetables, but he did not want them. The only option I saw was to trade with him; I'm assuming that is the intended way.
Also, I couldn't figure out how to rename him either.
Lastly, I "dismissed" him so he wouldn't be starving but I couldn't bring him back. Does dismiss in this game mean 'let go'?

To feed pet grab food and drag onto your pet. Even if it's a stack of food it will only feed 1 at a time. Your pet will emote its still hungry or is satiated.
To rename: /pet rename Crabby - or whatever name you want.
Dismiss just puts him away. You have a skill called Call Companion to bring him back out.
To get rid of a pet permanently: right click the pet window(never tried directly on pet) and click abandon pet

NateDawgOnline You might have to grab it from your class training skill vendor. I am not sure on this but worth a shot.

I think Call Companion and the resurrect pet ones should be given at the beginning 😓

We all start with a couple of spells in inventory and one or more spells at the vendor.
The process is being flashed out, but I think the idea is for the trainer to introduce you to the concept of pet and how it works, while also you slowly unlock more skills.
