How do the bursts work?

sirmole

So I'm only level 9 and i have had the bursts but cant figure out what they do. Originally i thought it was tied to the elemental using his skill but that doesn't seem to be the case. I have checked for procs but haven't seen anything yet.

Zaroua

That's the neat part, they don't! For a more serious answer, most of then are NYI, so we gotta wait on the class revamp to see what will happen with that particular system. The info we have right now indicates that the bursts will remain in some capacity.

sirmole

Zaroua Ok thanks.

Sneers

sirmole it is the case actually. The instant bursts play off of your pets abilities as well as when you are in Master of Elements mode.

For example I use Earth Pet, so I have Water Blast memmed.

Earth + Water = Mudslide, a Snare

Zaayr

these are the only ones in the game right now.
Spell Combo Effect (fire pet)
Elemental Fire → Blast of Water Cloud of Steam (Blind)
Elemental Fire → Blast of Air Backdraft (Knockback)

Spell Combo Effect (air pet)
Staggering Winds → Blast of Fire Vortex of Fire (AoE Fire Damage)

Spell Combo Effect (earth pet)
Elemental Root → Blast of Water Mudslide (Slow)

Abjurist

Importantly, the knockback doesn't seem to interrupt casting...or my timing is terrible

Nesarg

So only damage combo is air pet and fireblast or the other effects also damages?

Tsunamisan

Abjurist If you mean Fire pet + Air Blast. Then yah that been broken a long time. It used to silence before. Then they removed that effect but never added back a ability interupt. So yah it's pretty pointless since NPC don't even take fall damage so you can't even punt one off a dune in SD for a little extra damage.

Tsunamisan

Nesarg Yes but be careful with that combo. It is a AOE and you can nuke yourself with it without realizing.
Other combo's are:
Earth pet + Water blast = snare instead of root so you can kite.
Fire pet +air = Knockback. But as stated above the interrupt effect is broken.

Sneers

[unknown] the interrupt isn't broken, it was removed.

Abjurist

While I was testing this, I found out (cause I'd never noticed) that the air pet's attack ability itself DOES interrupt casting. But to have a chance of timing it right you need to keep it on manual and trigger it yourself
