Issue with the starter quest

brion-blais

I've used the wand on Fionna three times now and no crystal drop. It worked and both Bell and Jakob. Another Spellblade was in group one of those times and spammed the wand.

Is the drop random, borked, or does Greg have to die first?

edit: So I got the shard from Greg yesterday and then killed Fionna twice ... no shard. Going to bug this issue, as I have heard from others they are having the same issue.

Olo

I killed her(Fionna) 4 times and no drop.
Not sure if theres RNG involved or the drop is bugged.

Sylphy

it's bugged. we ran into this exact same issue during closed alpha. i guess some change un-fixed it

Olo

So, i finally completed this quest.
I was needing the drop from Snyde and Fionna for weeks. I gave up because i had killed Fionna muliple times without getting the drop.
I was just passing some time in Wyrm when i got Snyde to spawn(i'd previously spent 4-6hrs and not had him spawn for me), he dropped the crystal and this made me want to retry Fionna. I killed her and got the drop from her also.
This made me think, either they fixed the bugged drop, or it wasn't bugged and the problem was i needed to get the drops in the order the note says. As i had killed Fionna multiple times without getting the drop, but this was before i had the drop from Snyde.
So if anyone is still stuck on this, try making sure you get the drops in the order the note says and maybe that will save you a lot of time.

I'll be honest Olo, there absolutely shouldn't be an issue. Now I did finish this quest pre-rework. You use the rod on the mob, and they drop the item after dying. Since I'm playing SPB again on EA. I'm going to 100% be looking into it and will report my own findings. I'll check the patch notes, see if there was a subtle fix provided.
