Good day,
I understand that increasing Archer damage risks making the class overpowered, especially in the solo environment. Right now, however, the class simply does not feel good to play.
Early Levels
Minimum damage is a major problem, particularly with combat abilities. It is very common to see every shot land for under 5 damage, even with higher-delay bows. This leaves the player wondering “what am I even doing?” on a class that is supposed to be pure DPS.
Mid Levels
The minimum-damage issue fades, but a new problem appears: using multiple Quickshots or Piercing Shots often does little more damage than a single auto-attack. In short, Archer combat abilities feel weak when compared to something like the Rogue’s toolkit.
I believe group damage needs a significant increase while solo damage stays roughly where it is. Two possible ways to achieve this:
Give Piercing Shot a “behind / backstab” component, similar to how Stab works for Rogues.
Add a few abilities with a meaningful cast time (around 2 seconds) that hit harder.
Traps
Currently all traps have issues. Some (Oil Trap, Alarm Trap) do not function at all. Even the traps that do work cannot be placed in many areas.
Specialty Arrowheads
The “Defining Traits” section states that Archers have “access to specialty arrowheads, including explosive tips, entangling nets, concealing smoke, and more (key abilities require specific arrowheads, so what you carry matters).”
I was really hoping explosive tips (and the other specialty heads) would unlock additional combat abilities. Without that, the Archer currently feels incomplete.
Thanks for reading.
