Rework request: Buff Enchant Ally

When (if you haven't already) you guys start working on the Enchanter update can you please add improvements to Enchant Ally? It's a fantastic concept and I'd love to see it fleshed out as a legit playstyle choice that feels competitive with charm.

Enchant Ally is pretty powerful now, and a huge help in tough fights. If it (combined with your summon pet) added anywhere near as much dps as a charm pet, it'd be unbalancing, as its a zero-risk, zero mana alternative.

In my mind, the problem with Enchant Ally is simply that there are so few "tough fights" in the game, where the additional tank HP and runes are really needed.

on any other support/healer class enchant ally would be amazing standout utility (e.g. cleric, bard, inq) for free % scaling hp boost and a mana free mem slot free large value spammable absorb barrier with automatic leveling scaling.

Fidric Why is charm an obstacle for enchant ally? Can you elaborate? You cannot cast it on charmed pet. And if your group decides to use an ureliable charmed pet as tank, then you can still cast Enchant Ally on your shaman, btw thats what I always did. You can also insist on the group using a tank so you can use your EA on them. Old story, noone forces you to play as others play, its a PvE game. Everyone can play at their pace and playstyle.

As Fidric said, being able to use both is a bug and shouldn't be abused.

There is no reason to ever use Enchant Ally when Charm is available.

Charm CC's one mob while contributing significantly more DPS. It's an objectively superior tool 99% of the time.

Enchant Ally needs more to feel like a viable alternative to Charm. Adding a magical damage shield to Enchant Ally might be a good fit? The damage on Shadow Spike is negligible.

Enchant Ally - We've removed this for now but intend to revisit it in the future. While it's a interesting ability, it needed some more time and implementation polish to work reliably, and it didn't feel critical to the core Enchanter toolkit.

Super disappointing. Enchant Ally was a fantastic alternative playstyle to Charm.

Sincerely hope the intent to revisit isn't just a sop that'll be forgotten about when the devs move on to new things.

The rest of the changes look solid.

Charm DPS reduction is long overdue.
Consolidated buffs.
CHA Becomes a proper primary stat.
Pet summons at player level.

All great changes.

Though, as with the Shaman rework, I cannot see why these two buffs couldn't have been combined into a single spell.

Inspire your party, increasing their Charisma, Intelligence, and Wisdom.

I really loved enchant ally as a safer alternative to using charms, I hope they bring it back.

Another person to request a Nerf on the chanter class. this person is just like the ones in EQ, they did not like the fact that you had to have a chanter in the group like a tank and a healer. eventually it led to that you did not need a chanter they made it so singe pulls were easy

Tacky I'm worried about this too. A big draw to this game was allowance of disparity between classes, because fun factor is more important than balance. But all these latest changes seem geared towards balance only. It doesn't seem like "will players still have fun post change?" is even being asked.

Mesh Agree big time with it being a great alternative playstyle to charm. I was one of those people. I never got caught up in the heated debate about charm...

Why?

Because I rarely ever used it for 43 levels. Yup. I just used enchant ally, kept my pet out and buffed, turned his taunt off and then focused on CC, debuffs, buffs and using the Enchant Ally abilities. For me, that was a lot of fun. I had a pretty involved rotation that felt dynamic and caused me to make choices.

I thought they would lean into the direction of adding more variety to Enchant Ally considering we all knew that Charm would be nerfed.

Alarkos That is what I did in EQ don't have all the spells we have in this game and there are spells that we don't have that chanter in EQ did.
A chanter could do decent DPS not better than a DPS class but those spells we had drawn a lot of agro only used them in a pinch
