Class Fantasy: Safe Fall

With the Ranger rework on the horizon, I wanted to put forward a suggestion that I think fits with the theme and feel of the Ranger class: Giving some form of Safe Fall to Rangers, whether it's the skill itself, or even an Aura/Group Buff. The developers have called Rangers "...masters of travel, moving themselves and their group across terrain with ease," and that sounds like enhanced running, swimming, climbing, and descending (falling) should be things that Rangers bring to the table.

It does seem like Rangers would have Safe Fall. I noticed Bards get it as well, which doesn't really surprise me since they were always rogue hybrids and got it in EQ as well. I remember Rangers having levitate in EQ, which obviously they've already said they don't want to have that type of mechanic in this game and I understand why.

But giving Rangers the ability to walk on water might be interesting. I may be getting too carried away here, but I do agree that safe fall does seem like an ability Rangers would have access to. Especially if they are moving the class away from spell-casting in general.

If we're really going to get into RP justification, safe fall is more like an acrobatic feat. Something you'd expect from classes like rogues, bards, and monks. It's a separate concept from being good at running and navigating terrain.

I think it makes sense. But maybe to a lesser degree than something like a rogue would get. Rangers feel like the class that should have the most freedom across the board, but not necessarily the most escape options.

Yea this makes pretty decent sense. You'd think survivalists leaping from trees and cliff tops would have learned some ability to land safely from high places.
