Rogue stat priority?

I know that rogues start with a bonus to dex and agi but I am wondering about the importance of strength.

I remember at launch of EQ they recommended agi for monk but it turned out that it had almost no affect according to the people who did all sorts of tests with stacking agi.

What do you guys think? Unless piercing weapons don't get bonuses from str it would seem like it would be an important stat for melee damage.

I recommend prioritizing Strength then Dexterity.

For your Major Combat ability, I have 2 recommendations:
• Strong - if you're purely focused on DPS. Activating this at the same time as Fury of the Assassin makes you hit very hard, plus you get a static 10% increase.
• Magic Resistant - if you want to be a puller. This will let you break a kez, fear, etc

I'd recommend pumping str at character select and taking the 'strong' attribute as well. Magic resistant is definitely a contender for pulling classes, but I personally would rather assist a main puller with scouting and saps, cheeky throws into a group of mobs and sprinting out of LoS to draw them out before quick VoS to help split the spawns up, etc.

I am actually gonna put most of my points in Dex. Str is always the easiest stat to increase.

Leum I was thinking of doing the same, I'm really hoping Dex scales better than it did in EQ for procs and such.

Twoswords I have 102 dex unbuffed and feel like anymore doesnt make a big difference.

Stealthmain Great then you have slots for resists now. Hit rating isn't a stat we can see at the moment so it will be hard to tell. They said they changed the curve after finding people were hitting the max too early, a lot like what you are describing. Perhaps you should try again after the changes.

Leum I was playing my Archer yesterday after all of the changes and if I make another Archer in EA I'm going heavily into Dex instead of Str. We get particularly hurt when say a Barbed Shot misses and our stacking dot wears off. It's something that never really happened to me while leveling, but now misses are a constant issue.

jobanab I think they have decided to make Strength less of the META for stacking. The way damage is calculated STR just makes the average increase as far as I understand, not increase the amount you can do so STR is good but not the most important stat. Hitting is the most important thing 🙂

After seeing more information from people on Dexterity, I'm now considering a higher DEX on character creation.

JankyJux It's not horrible to go dex - probably much easier to cap STR with gear than dex too. But at the end of the day 10 points to allocate isn't going to do much in any stat either way, unless the race you picked is deficient and you're having to shore that one up.

I put all 10 into str on my derp gnerme, but they start with only 14 - sta is gonna be shit for a while 😃

When remaking my Dwarf Rogue, here's what I'm trying currently.
STR: 21 (+4)
STA: 17 (+0)
DEX: 27 (+5) - Maxed
AGI: 20 (+1)

This may be off topic, but I'm not convinced that STR does anything at lower levels. For context, when I first discovered I could sharpen both of my weapons for +5 STR and used a +5 STR potion I found on the ground near the bank, AND got Shaman buff, I had legitimately doubled my STR almost instantaneously. I rushed back to the area I had been solo'ing at excited to decimate mobs. And was confused when I was still hitting for the same damage as I was before.

I'm sure this changes at higher levels, but at lower levels there is that part of me that questions whether or not STR, STR buffs, sharpening stones, STR potions etc. even do anything.
