Jewelcrafting

There was mention, though I forgot where it was mentioned, that the developers want to do deep dives on the crafting professions after they complete the deep dives on the classes. These are ideas I have for improving the jewelcrafting tradeskill.

Broad Changes

All crafted items should carry the name of the crafter. This is likely not possible, but a big wish of mine.
Crafted jewelry should be "One Drop" or BoE.
I want crafting to feel like a journey and be momentous, similar to leveling up and farming gear. This should apply to both the crafter and the consumer. My suggested changes do not accomplish this and I do not know how to accomplish this for jewelcrafting.
Leveling a crafting tradeskill currently feels like a purposeless grind instead of supporting the tradeskill or economy. This is a larger conversation that deserves it's own post. I'll make that post later.

Jewels Gathered from a Variety of Sources

I greatly appreciate the overlap between the tradeskills and want more of it. This change allows jewelcrafting to overlap with numerous gathering skills. Some jewels listed are new and explained more below.

Amber and Animanux (new jewel) are gathered from lumberjacking.
Osmedul (new jewel) is acquired from tanning pelts.
Pearl is gathered from fishing.
Ethgran and Semur (new jewels) are gathered from herbalism.
Jade is gathered from foraging.
Aêthima is a drop from all surface beasts.
Esseantrum is a drop from all deep beasts.
Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamond are gathered from mining.

Jewels Tied to Single Stats

Each jewel is tied to a single stat. Crafting jewelry is about the combination of jewels included instead of finding the one perfect jewel (see Tiers of Jewelry section below). The available stats have been expanded to include primary move speed, offense, and meditation. The option for primary move speed gives players an alternative to seeking out the Speed of the Wild (SoW) buff. While SoW will be stronger than the jewelry can provide, the jewelry offers a permanent option for characters that do not have easy access to SoW. The offense and meditation skill bonuses provide options for players to try out different play styles.

Amber = Stamina
Animanux = Charisma
Osmedul = MP
Pearl = Dexterity
Ethgran = Wisdom
Semur = HP
Emerald = AC
Ruby = Strength
Sapphire = Intelligence
Diamond = Resistance
Jade = Primary Move Speed (doesn't stack with buffs like SoW)
Aêthima = Offense skill
Esseantrum = Meditation skill

Heart Jewels

Heart jewels are a new type and tier of jewel. These exceptionally rare jewels are acquired through challenging end-game content. These could drop from named mobs, be rewards for deep challenging quests, or other form of reward for elite heroes. Each heart jewel would offer a unique and powerful buff when set into a piece of jewelry. The heart jewels work by becoming symbiotic with the wearer's heart. Thus, the heart jewels can only be set in necklaces. Moreover, if a wearer ever removes a bonded heart jewel necklace, the heart jewel in the necklaces ceases to function. Some examples of possible heart jewel bonuses:

Primary Haste
Casting Speed
Cooldown Reduction
Access to the Gate spell.
Classes could get a class specific ability or bonus.
Immunity to something (e.g. poison, purging, slows, etc.)

Tiers of Jewels

The current tiers, Chipped, Flawed, Imperfect, and Whole are still used. These are associated with bonuses of +1, +3, +5, and +7 respectively. For HP and MP these bonuses would be five times higher, i.e. +5, +15, +25, and +35. I don't know what the numbers should be for AC, Move Speed, Offense, and Meditation.

New Jewelcrafting Recipe

Jewel Splitting - 1 Jewel - yields 1 or 2 of the same jewel of a lower tier. Example: An Imperfect Aêthima is used in the splitting recipe. The lucky jewelcrafter gets 2 Flawed Aêthimas as the result.

Tiers of Jewelry

This table reflects the jewel recipes for different tiers of jewelry. Each tier and piece of jewelry has a specific number and tier of jewels that are used in crafting. Each jewel in a piece of jewelry must be distinct, i.e. cannot put two Ambers into a single piece of jewelry. The tiers of jewels are C, F, I, W, and H corresponding to Chipped, Flawed, Imperfect, Whole, and Heart. The stats of a specific piece of crafted jewelry correspond to the type of jewels used and their tiers. A piece of jewelry can be crafted with a lower tier of jewel than that listed, but not a higher one.

+----------+------+------+------+
|          | Ear  | Ring | Neck |
+----------+------+------+------+
| Copper   | 1C   | 2C   | 1F2C |
+----------+------+------+------+
| Bronze   | 1F   | 2F   | 1F2C |
+----------+------+------+------+
| Silver   | 2F   | 2F1C | 1I2F |
+----------+------+------+------+
| Iron     | 1I1F | 2I   | 2I1F |
+----------+------+------+------+
| Gold     | 2I   | 2I1F | 1W2I |
+----------+------+------+------+
| Steel    | 1W1I | 2W   | 2W1I |
+----------+------+------+------+
| Platinum | 2W   | 2W1I | 1H2W |
+----------+------+------+------+

Here is an example to illustrate how to read this table. A jewelcrafter is going to make a Gold Ring. The Gold Ring can hold 2 Imperfect jewels and 1 Flawed jewel. The jewelcrafter is making the Gold Ring for a cleric. The cleric asks the jewelcrafter to use an Imperfect Ethgran, an Imperfect Esseantrum, and a Flawed Osmedul. This combination would create a Gold Ring that gives +5 Wisdom, +5 Meditation (or more, I don't know how to scale the skills), and +15 MP. The jewelcrafter doesn't have an Imperfect Ethgran, unfortunately. So instead with the permission of the cleric, the jewelcrafter uses a Flawed Ethgran, an Imperfect Esseantrum, and a Flawed Osmedul, crafting the ring with a lower tier jewel. This would create a Gold Ring that gives +3 Wisdom, +5 Meditation (or more), and +15 MP.

New Tailoring Recipes

Polishing Cloth - 2x Cloth Scraps. Example: A Wool Polishing Cloth requires 2 Wool Scraps.
Hearth Cloth - 2x Enchanted Linen Scraps.

Component Recipes

Wire - 1x Metal Bar. Example: A Silver Wire requires 1 Silver Bar.
Mounting - 1x Enchanted Metal Bar, 1x Polishing Cloth, 1x Jewel. The tier of the Jewel must be equal or less than the tier of the Enchanted Metal Bar. The tier of Polishing Cloth must be equal to the tier of the Jewel. Example: A Gold Bar, Wool Polishing Cloth, and Flawed Osmedul create a Flawed Gold Osmedul Mounting.
Heart Mounting - 1x Enchanted Platinum Bar, 1x Hearth Cloth, 1x Heart Jewel.
Shank - 2x Metal Bar. Example: An Iron Shank requires 2 Iron Bars.

Jewelry Recipes

All components used in crafting a piece of jewelry must use the same metal. All mountings must contain distinct jewels for a single piece of jewelry.

Earring - 1x Wire and 1x (or 2x depending on the recipe, see Tiers of Jewelry) Mounting. Example: An Iron Wire, an Imperfect Iron Ruby Mounting, and a Flawed Iron Pearl Mounting create an Iron Earring with +5 STR and +3 DEX.
Ring - 1x Shank and 2x (or 3x depending on the recipe) Mounting. Example from before: The Gold Ring that gives +3 Wisdom, +5 Meditation (or more), and +15 MP would require a Gold Shank, a Flawed Gold Ethgran Mounting, an Imperfect Gold Esseantrum Mounting, and a Flawed Gold Osmedul Mounting.
Necklace - 1x Chain Links (from blacksmithing), 1x Wire, and 3x Mounting. Example: A Copper Necklace that gives +3 Charisma, +1 Intelligence, and +5 HP would require a Copper Chain Link, a Copper Wire, a Flawed Copper Animanux Mounting, a Chipped Copper Sapphire Mounting, and a Chipped Copper Semur Mounting.
