Greetings!

The purpose of this guide is to provide insights about the Spellblade class for the community. The guide is based on my experience with the spellblade class during closed beta through level 25. This is not a leveling or dungeon guide. Stats and abilities will most likely change during Early Access. If you have anything to add, please feel free to add a comment to the thread. My aim is to improve this guide over EA and into 1.0 release. Grab a coffee and let's get into it!

What is the Spellblade class?
Spellblade is a light-armored melee DPS class that mixes weapon attacks, magical infusions, short-range spell weaving, burst utility, and combat teleportation. It is not a Wizard with a sword and it is no longer designed as an off-tank. The class rewards players who like active decision-making, positioning, and managing mana without giving up melee pressure.

1. What Is a Spellblade?
The modern Spellblade is best described as a highly mobile magic swordsman. Your primary role is melee DPS, but your damage is not built only around white swings or only around spell casts. Your weapon attacks feed magical procs, your infusions alter what those procs do, and Conduit lets you cash an active infusion in for a stronger burst or utility effect.

The rework pushed the class away from the older “proc and pray” design. The current kit asks you to make more decisions: which infusion is active, whether to hold or conduct it, when to spend mana on a spell weave, when to Phase Strike, and when to back off with Seclusion or a defensive tool.

Role: Melee DPS with magical burst, mobility, light battlefield control, and limited group utility.
Armor: Light armor. You can survive short periods of pressure, but you are not a true tank nor off-tank.
Combat feel: More active than most classic melee classes. Expect a higher action-per-minute play-style when you are pushing the kit.

Who Will Like the Class?
• Players who like hybrid melee/caster gameplay.
• Players who enjoy timing procs, stance/infusion swaps, and short cooldowns.
• Players who want mobility and the ability to reposition themselves or an enemy.
• Players who do not mind watching mana while continuing to play in melee.
• Players who like having several “good enough” answers instead of one button for every situation.

2. Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
• Strong melee pressure with additional magic damage coming from infusion procs.
• Excellent mobility for an old-school MMO melee class. Phase Strike is both a gap closer and a way to break stun/immobilize effects.
• Three infusion identities let you lean toward damage, control, or defense depending on the fight.
• Conduit gives meaningful burst/utility without needing a completely separate spell kit.
• Useful defensive tools for surviving aggro spikes or solo pressure: Kinetic Ward, Seclusion, and later defensive cooldowns.
• Can contribute to caster-heavy groups through Aura of the Arcane and magic-related debuffs.
• Implosion becomes a very useful low-cost damage/debuff tool once acquired.
Weaknesses
• Mana is a real resource. Overspending on nukes can leave you with little to do besides basic melee and melee abilities.
• Light armor means mistakes and unwanted aggro hurt quickly.
• The class can feel “busy.” Infusion management plus spell weaving is higher APM than the normal M&M sandwich-combat rhythm/EQ classic class playstyle.
• Reliable interrupts are not as straightforward as a traditional Kick. Electric effects can help, but do not treat the class as the group’s primary interrupter.
• Telekinetic knock-back can hurt your group if used carelessly. Moving the mob is not automatically good battlefield control.
• Soloing is possible, but adds and long fights can become ugly because both health and mana are being taxed at the same time.
• The class is stat hungry: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Stamina (Mostly for soloing) all matter.

3. Race and Stat Priorities
Available Races
The official Spellblade race list includes Deep Dwarf, Deep Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, High Elf, and Human. For the October 1, 2026 Early Access launch, the playable Spellblade races are expected to be Deep Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, and Human; Deep Dwarf and High Elf are later additions. As beta and EA development continues, racial statistics and racial abilities are subject to change.

Race-by-Race Overview
Starting Spellblade Stats
The values below are starting Spellblade statistics before spending the 10 bonus attribute points. Known values are included for Gnome, Dwarf, and Human. Where final public values are not yet reliable, this guide leaves them as TBD rather than presenting speculation as fact.
Race STR STA DEX AGI INT WIS CHA General Style
Gnome 16 15 22 16 23 15 15 Magic / Proc Specialist
Dwarf 19 17 21 15 19 16 15 Durable Melee Hybrid
Human 18 17 19 16 19 16 17 Balanced Hybrid
Deep Elf TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD Arcane / Martial???
Deep Dwarf TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD Defense???
High Elf TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD Arcane-Focused???

Gnome - Offensive / Magic Specialist
• Highest known starting Intelligence (23) and Dexterity (22), giving excellent natural synergy with the Spellblade's magical and proc-based side.
• Strong baseline for melee accuracy, infusion proc consistency, mana pool, spell damage, and Kinetic Ward scaling.
• Gnome racial utility such as Slippery can be valuable when movement-impairing effects threaten a light-armored melee character.
Weaknesses
• Lower Strength and Stamina than the sturdier choices.
• More reliant on positioning, mobility, Kinetic Ward, and good threat management when a fight turns against you.
Recommendation: 5/5. The strongest known choice for players who want to lean aggressively into DEX/INT, magical pressure, and infusion procs.
Dwarf - Durable Battle Spellblade
• Best known starting Strength (19) while still retaining strong Dexterity (21), giving the class a very good physical foundation.
• 17 Stamina makes the Dwarf less fragile in melee than the Gnome without abandoning the important DEX/INT package.
• Stone Form gives the Dwarf a powerful emergency defensive racial, directly helping compensate for the Spellblade's light armor and lack of native healing.
Weaknesses
• Lower Agility and Intelligence than the more specialized magical option.
• Slightly less naturally specialized for the magical/proc half of the class than Gnome.
Recommendation: 5/5. Probably the best all-around recommendation. It gives up very little damage potential while improving the part of the class that most often gets you killed: surviving in melee.
Human - Balanced / Flexible
• 18 STR / 17 STA / 19 DEX / 19 INT provides a balanced hybrid base with no glaring statistical weakness.
• Human is the easiest race to shape with the 10 bonus points because you are not correcting a major weakness or forced toward one obvious specialty.
• Tenacity provides an additional racial combat option and reinforces the race's flexible identity.
Weaknesses
• Does not lead the known Spellblade races in any of the most important class statistics.
• Less Dexterity than Dwarf/Gnome and less Intelligence than Gnome.
Recommendation: 4/5. The safest choice for a player who wants the class - rather than the race - to define the final build.

TBD Races:
Deep Elf - Arcane / Martial
Early Access launch: Yes. Deep Elf Spellblade is confirmed, but this guide intentionally leaves the final racial stat block and racial abilities as TBD until reliable launch values are available. The race is an especially interesting candidate for an arcane-heavy Spellblade, but Evil faction alignment may materially affect travel, city access, and NPC interactions.
Recommendation: TBD - reevaluate when the Early Access character creator and final racial data are available.
Deep Dwarf - Defensive Spellblade
Early Access launch: No; planned for later. Deep Dwarf is an officially supported Spellblade race and is especially interesting as a future defensive/anti-control choice. Hardiness and historically associated defensive racials could create excellent synergy with a class that already uses Phase Strike, Kinetic Ward, and Seclusion to survive control and bad positioning.
Recommendation: Future option - stats TBD.
High Elf - Arcane Spellblade
Early Access launch: No; planned for later. High Elf is an officially supported Spellblade race. Thematically it should fit the arcane side of the class very well, but final public racial stats and racial abilities should be verified before calling it a min-max choice.
Recommendation: Future option - stats TBD.

Recommended Traits
Character creation currently gives you one Major Combat trait, one Minor Combat trait, one Major Non-Combat trait, and one Minor Non-Combat trait. Treat these recommendations as a starting point, not a mandatory meta; beta/EA trait availability and values can change.

Major Combat Traits
Default recommendation: Dexterous (+5% Dexterity). Dexterity fits the modern Spellblade extremely well because the class depends on landing melee attacks consistently while feeding its infusion/proc engine.
• Dexterous - best general-purpose Spellblade choice. Emphasizes melee accuracy and the proc-driven side of the kit.
• Intelligent - excellent for a more magic-heavy build. More INT supports mana, offensive magic, and Kinetic Ward.
• Strong - a very solid melee-forward option, especially on a Dwarf.
• Tough - viable for players who would rather patch the class's fragility than maximize damage.
• ~~Race-specific alternatives such as Stone Form, Slippery, or Tenacity can be worth more than a small stat increase depending on the build and encounter.~~
• Racial actives such as Stone Form, Slippery, and Tenacity are automatically granted by the character’s race and do not consume the Major Combat trait selection. They should therefore be evaluated alongside not instead of your chosen Major Combat trait. (Edited 9/13/26)

General ranking: Dexterous > Intelligent approximately Strong > Tough. This is a recommendation, not a hard rule.

Minor Combat Traits
• Channeler - best hybrid choice if available to Spellblade in the final creator. Starting Channeling higher and improving its skill-up rate is unusually relevant to a caster who deliberately stands in melee.
• Swordsman - best simple leveling choice. It accelerates Slashing progression and naturally fits the class's sword-based melee identity.
• Warrior - a straightforward general combat option that improves Offense progression.
First-time player: Swordsman. Experienced player planning to weave spells aggressively in melee: Channeler.

Major Non-Combat Traits
• Infravision - excellent general adventuring utility where available. Darkness in M&M is meaningful, so improved dungeon/night vision is not just flavor.
• Master Artisan - excellent if crafting will be a serious part of the character.
• Readiness - potentially very useful for a caster because of the extra Cantrip/memorization utility, if available to Spellblade at launch.
• Fast Metabolism - useful endurance tradeoff, but not something I would build the class around.
• Iron Lungs - niche utility.
• Slow Metabolism - not recommended for Spellblade if the endurance penalty remains, because endurance is already valuable to an active melee class.

Minor Non-Combat Traits
• Medicine - my practical adventuring recommendation. Bind Wound is genuinely useful on a class with no native healing.
• Bookworm - convenient and thematic for a magic swordsman, particularly if the extra spellbook remains part of the trait.
• Tradeskill traits - Disenchanter, Herbalist, Alchemist, Blacksmith, Enchanter, Jewelcrafter, and similar options are perfectly reasonable if you already know which profession you intend to develop.

General recommendation: Medicine for adventuring, Bookworm for convenience/flavor, otherwise choose the tradeskill you actually plan to use.

Deity / Faith
Do not choose a deity purely for Spellblade min-maxing yet. Faith is still better treated as roleplay, faction, and character identity unless or until deity-specific mechanical bonuses become important enough to change a build.

Currently Available / Documented Planned / Not Yet Implemented
Agnostic Kravvin
Eltindra - Goddess of Travel / Travelers Porbor
Haradrel - God of War Tilustra - Goddess of Knowledge
Krivea - Goddess of Harvests Trem
The Matswar - God of Death Vespyra - Goddess of Magic
Relle - Goddess of Fertility
Sorophal - God of Inspiration
Trimminax - God of Plague
Spellblade-Themed Recommendations
• Haradrel - the most obvious martial fit for a magically enhanced swordsman whose primary job is still melee combat.
• Sorophal - a strong flavor choice for a character who treats swordplay and spellcraft as an art or disciplined craft.
• Eltindra - surprisingly fitting for a highly mobile, teleporting, wandering Spellblade.
• Vespyra - potentially the perfect thematic choice for an arcane-heavy Spellblade once available.
• Agnostic - completely reasonable if you do not want religion to define the character.

For War/Combat based characters specifically, Haradrel is the cleanest thematic fit: a Dwarven Spellblade built around STR/DEX/INT, Stone Form, weapon pressure, infusions, and Conduit under the God of War.

Deep Elf - Revisit at EA Wait for verified racial stats Wait for final racial and trait data before locking the build. Arcane-themed faiths are natural flavor choices

Character-creation takeaway: There is no single mandatory Spellblade race or trait package. Dwarf is the strongest all-around recommendation, Gnome is the most naturally specialized known offensive/magical option, and Human is the flexible middle ground. Deep Elf should be reevaluated with the final Early Access information.

Recommended Stat Mindset

Strength - your safest primary damage stat for a melee-forward Spellblade. It improves the part of your damage that is always happening: weapon attacks and weapon-ratio abilities.
Dexterity - important for connecting with melee attacks, especially as enemy level and avoidance rise. Do not let it fall behind just to stack raw Strength.
Intelligence - increases the value of your magical side, gives you more mana, and improves some spell/infusion scaling. INT matters; it simply does not mean you should build like a pure caster.
Stamina / survivability - valuable because you are a leather-wearing melee class and you will occasionally eat aggro.

Beta build note: On my spellblade around level 25, the working build naturally ended up Strength-first with INT and DEX behind it rather than trying to force a pure INT caster setup. Recent community testing at higher beta levels has also shown STR performing very well because it affects white damage plus multiple melee abilities, while INT still contributes to spell damage, procs, mana pool, and mana regeneration.

4. The Heart of the Class: Infusions and Conduit
Do not think of infusions as cosmetic weapon enchants. They are your combat stances. Each one changes what your weapon can proc, interacts with a matching spell, and changes what Conduit does. Learning when to stay in an infusion and when to spend it is the main Spellblade skill check.
Arcane Infusion
• Adds Magic damage procs to melee attacks.
• Can apply Arcane Frailty, reducing the target’s Magic Resistance.
• Reduces the mana cost of Arcane Spear while active.
• Conduit turns the stored arcane energy into direct Magic damage.
Practical use: Arcane is a strong general-purpose stance when you want dependable magical damage or are working with other magic damage dealers. Arcane Conduit is straightforward free burst when timed well. Arcane Spear is useful for pulling, but spamming the line can become expensive due to it's higher than average mana cost per spell level.
Electric Infusion
• Adds Electric damage procs to melee attacks.
• Has a lesser chance to stun.
• Reduces the mana cost of Discharge while active.
• Electric Conduit deals Electric damage and adds a stun/arc effect.
Practical use: Electric is often the easiest infusion to live in during normal group DPS. The random stun can occasionally interrupt at the perfect time, and the matching Discharge line is generally easier to weave economically than repeatedly casting Arcane Spear.
Telekinetic Infusion
• Adds Physical damage procs.
• Can trigger Kinetic Siphon, reducing the target’s Movement Speed/Agility while increasing yours.
• Reduces the mana cost of Kinetic Ward.
• Telekinetic Conduit knocks the target back and immobilizes it.
Practical use: this is the situational stance. It is useful when you expect to take hits, need Kinetic Ward, want to create space, or want a root/knockback option. In groups, be deliberate: knocking a mob away from the tank or melee pile can create more problems than it solves.
Conduit
Conduit is the button that turns your current infusion into its payoff. The important part is not “press Conduit on cooldown.” The important part is asking what the fight needs. Arcane Conduit is damage. Electric Conduit is damage plus control. Telekinetic Conduit is positioning/control. Using Conduit also affects infusion availability, so pressing it commits you to a short-term plan.
Simple rule for new players: If you are not sure what to do, stay Electric or Arcane and learn the rhythm. Add aggressive infusion dancing after the rest of your melee rotation and mana management feels automatic.

5. Core Abilities and Spells Through Level 25
Infused Slash
Your standard infused melee strike. This is one of the buttons you should be pressing consistently because it keeps your damage moving without asking you to stop being a melee character.
Phase Strike
Teleports you behind the target, deals weapon-ratio damage, triggers your current infusion effect, and clears stun/immobilize effects. This is not just a flashy teleport. It is a gap closer, a positional tool, a damage button, and an escape from specific control effects.
Arcane Spear
Ranged Magic damage and one of your best pulling tools. It becomes cheaper while Arcane Infusion is active. Use it to soften a target or pull; do not assume the highest rank should be spammed every fight. Mana efficiency matters.
Discharge
Short-range Electric damage, discounted while Electric Infusion is active. In beta play this has been easier to work into sustained melee than heavy Arcane Spear spam. A lower-rank Discharge can sometimes be the smarter choice when you do not have strong mana regeneration.
Kinetic Ward
A defensive shield that raises Armor Class and absorbs incoming damage. It scales with Intelligence and is cheaper under Telekinetic Infusion. Use it when soloing, when you pull aggro, or when a fight has unavoidable return damage. It is insurance, not a reason to pretend you are the tank.
Dispel Magic and Protection Utility
Spellblade retains a small utility package through dispel and protection effects. Keep them available, but do not sacrifice the core combat bar for niche protection spells unless the encounter actually calls for them.
Seclusion - Level 14
One of the class-defining survival tools. Seclusion reduces your threat against the target, immobilizes it, and teleports you a short distance away. In a group, this is your “I pulled aggro” correction button. Drop threat, create space, then re-enter on your terms - often with Phase Strike once the tank has control again.
Implosion - Level 18
Creates a crushing vacuum that reduces the target’s Block, Dodge, and Parry; when it expires, it implodes for Physical area damage. This becomes one of the better tools in the mid-level kit because it combines a useful avoidance debuff with efficient damage. The area is small enough that careful groups can use it without automatically breaking nearby crowd control.
Flurry - Level 25
A major melee milestone. Flurry delivers multiple weapon swings and becomes part of the core melee damage package. It also makes weapon choice more interesting because dual wielding and high-ratio two-handed weapons can interact differently with multi-swing abilities. At level 25, Flurry is one of the abilities that makes the reworked Spellblade feel much more complete.
Static Field
Places an Electric damage field around your position. Recent beta tuning increased its damage and added an Electric-resistance reduction effect. It is situational in normal single-target group combat, but it has more value when enemies are held in place, multiple targets are being handled deliberately, or you want to amplify follow-up Electric damage.
Aura of the Arcane
Group aura that increases Intelligence and Spell Damage. It is simple passive value, especially in groups containing casters or other magic-heavy damage sources.

6. Leveling Roadmap: 1–25 (Let the magic rhythm flow through you)
Levels 1–9: Learn the Hybrid Rhythm
• Stay in melee. Your spells supplement your weapon; they do not replace it.
• Learn your first infusion interactions before trying to swap constantly.
• Use Arcane Spear as a pull/softener, then transition into melee.
• Get comfortable with Infused Slash and Phase Strike as recurring melee actions.
• Treat mana as part of your damage budget. Winning the fight at 0 mana is not always winning if the next pull is already coming.
Levels 10–13: Start Building a Real Combat Bar
• Use matching infusion/spell combinations when practical.
• Begin experimenting with Conduit as a decision instead of a cooldown you press blindly.
• Keep Kinetic Ward available for bad pulls and soloing.
• Pay attention to how often casting interrupts your melee flow. Spell weaving should add damage, not replace free auto attacks and infusion procs.
Level 14: Seclusion Changes Your Survival
Once Seclusion arrives, you gain a real threat-management/reset tool. In groups, this makes aggressive melee much safer. In solo play, it can buy a short reset window for positioning, cooldowns, or mana.
Level 18: Implosion Adds Efficient Pressure
Implosion gives you a debuff and delayed damage in one slot. This is where the Spellblade begins to feel more like a class with a layered rotation rather than a melee character with a few procs.
Levels 19–24: Refine, Do Not Overcomplicate
• Practice using Arcane or Electric as your default damage state.
• Only bring Telekinetic forward when its defensive/control tools matter.
• Use your mana bar to decide how much spell weaving the current group can support.
• If the group has strong mana regeneration, you can use higher-rank damage spells more freely. Without it, efficiency wins.
Level 25: Flurry Completes the Early Melee Core
At 25 you have enough of the reworked kit to see what the class is really becoming. You are juggling a real melee package, magical procs, burst through Conduit, survival through Ward/Seclusion, and spell weaving. If you enjoy the class at this point, the Spellblade identity is probably for you.

8. Weapons and Gear
Weapons
Spellblade is not locked into one obvious weapon answer. Weapon ratio, available stats, dual-wield options, and how multi-swing abilities such as Flurry interact with your setup all matter.
• A strong two-handed weapon can produce satisfying large hits and simplifies gearing.
• Dual wield can become attractive because multi-swing attacks may gain value from having two weapons.
• Do not chase attack speed only because older Spellblade designs favored fast proc weapons. The rework was specifically built to move away from flat-damage proc bias toward fast weapons.
• At level 25, use the best overall weapon package you have rather than forcing a theoretical endgame setup.
Gear Stats
• Strength: primary melee damage priority.
• Dexterity: accuracy and melee consistency.
• Intelligence: mana pool, magical damage/procs, and Kinetic Ward scaling.
• Stamina / HP / AC / useful resists: you are still standing in melee in light armor.

What Changed With the Rework?
The rework sharpened the Spellblade into a melee DPS class rather than a hybrid that drifted between proc-bot, caster, and off-tank. The biggest thematic changes are:
• Infusions + Conduit are now the central combat system.
• Arcane, Electric, and Telekinetic magic define the class; the older broader elemental identity was reduced.
• Teleportation is treated as a combat mechanic through tools such as Phase Strike and Seclusion.
• The old off-tank emphasis has been reduced. Kinetic Ward remains defensive, but the class’s official role is melee DPS.
• The design attempts to reduce dependence on pure RNG and fast-weapon proc abuse by giving the player more active decisions.
• The tradeoff is complexity: the new Spellblade can feel substantially busier than classic “sandwich combat.”
Beta build note: The original concept behind the Spellblade was more Rogue/Wizard hybrid, with light CC. You acquired your damage off weapon procs, and it didn't leave much room for item variations. Faster items were ultimately better in the long run.

10. My thoughts on the class after Beta experience & Mid-20's grind
Overall the Spellblade is a reliable class in group settings. You're a stance-dancing warrior mage but you don't need to cast every damage ability and drain your mana pool. Using the Telekinetic abilities inside of your kit, are situation based and you really don't need to use them just because they exist (currently they aren't worth the mana).

It's true bread and butter is in establishing your melee prowess, electric infusion is a great baseline and solid for opening up the targets, while arcane is perfect for finishing. Strength-forward gearing with enough Dexterity to connect and enough Intelligence to support the magical side has felt more natural than trying to become a leather-armored Wizard.

At level 25 the kit really started to take shape and I'd sequence my damage outputs - Flurry, Phase Strike, Infused Slash, Implosion, Conduit formed a pretty solid core. Electric and Arcane are your natural damage infusions; while Telekinetic is utility and situational.

Not everything is perfect with the rework, mana efficiency is really keen for a SPB, you'll want to make sure by level 20, depending on your race choice, your int is between 35-50. If not you'll find yourself scaling down some of your spell abilities just to compensate for the high mana demand.

Bottom line: Spellblade is for the player who wants to be in melee but still wants decisions to make between weapon swings. If you want a low-input auto-attack class, this probably is not it. If you want a mobile melee DPS with magical layers and a lot of room to improve through timing and resource management, the rework has a strong foundation and a quality baseline.

Current Beta Caveats
• Racial stats, trait availability/effects, deity implementation, and Early Access race availability should be rechecked after major patches and at launch.
• The game and class are still being tuned. Mana costs, ability scaling, cooldowns, and infusion behavior may change.
• Static Field has already received beta adjustments, including increased damage and an Electric-resistance reduction effect.
• Community feedback remains mixed on infusion “stance dancing,” especially how Conduit interacts with infusion cooldowns.
