I'm finding ranged kiting to work out pretty decently - root n shoot as well as keeping it snared (in archery stance) does decent damage. keep your fletching skilled up and use decent arrows and a decent bow, even w/o sow.
Your auto's are where the meat is going to be for DPS, so keeping the mob rooted is going to up your DPS. I typically open with maiming > leading > swift > root - then cycle leading and alternate maiming/swift back and forth while watching root breaks and adjusting distance.
the more turret uptime the better. If you're pulling blue non-casting/shooting mobs that don't resist root too much, you'll have zero downtime and can chain pull once you get the feel for it. You also have a super long range on archery compared to casting distance so you can really put some distance between yourself and the target.
Most of my time is spent keeping situational awareness of other roaming mobs/adds and what kind of pattern I'm going to kite in while watching those root breaks.
Definitely keep your melee skills up and keep your weapons/armor upgraded as you can afford. that heal is great coupled with regen and a bandage here and there if you're just kiting, or dipping in for some melee and stepping back to heal up a bit.
If you're spending your solo time face tanking mobs - you're gonna blow through mana/bandages trying to heal it out.
