Raven I get this mentality, and it is accurate. Though most everyone always goes negative, and by doing so, you'll get a negative response. If people actually respect the player that is there, talk it out ask questions, feel the room. I've been camping named and a group comes in and leaves , if I've been there a long time ill call them back and just let them have it. I've also had it where someone tries to push in and be entitled, so I pushed back. It's tough to have a bottleneck of activity early on, but communication usually solves a lot.

Sneers - 100% agreed. I am by no means calling for punishment right away or anything like that, but if push comes to shove, it SHOULD be in the official PNP that at-level groups get priority. I did see the comment about quest drops and agree, but I am referring to the "gear farmers" that either farm for disenchant gear (which means the DE system needs to be fixed) or to sell.

This game should always focus on social agreements before GMs get involved. But having this in the PNP would simply formalize what decent people would do anyway.

This topic is the ultimate slippery slope. Whatever we do, please keep it as close to "first come first serve" as possible, and no hard coded barriers. It just doesn't suit this game

Camps with named mobs for items are a specific game loop meant for farming gear. To get access to the gear, you have at level groups that are large enough to keep the camp broken, mid size groups that have to back farm, and solo/1-2 player groups that have to back farm even further. The claiming of the camps (and later raid bosses) is a very intentional friction point that the developers are implementing on purpose.

There are plenty more options to level than there are to get gear, and in my opinion changing the camp loop to make it more convenient for people that want stats gear and levels at the same time is dismissive of other parts of the community.

I disagree. What is the point of progression if you can't go and use it (enjoy it) doing stuff that was previously too hard for you.

I don't really see an issue with higher levels farming drops even if they don't get XP.

A /tell can go a long ways.

Sure, you might not get a named spawn but the high level might let you XP in the camp (they'd probably even jump in if things got out of control). And oddly, if they leave, guess who has claim to the named npc...

Same thing with quest drops from a camped mob... A simple friendly /tell explaining what you're after could very well lead to a /tell back with hey xxxx dropped it's all yours.

Seems everyone wants a social MMO until it comes time to be social...

Sneers I'd argue farming a low level area and blocking appropriate level people from their content is extremely negative to begin with. But saying that we always approach those people with positive request and the answer is either a positive "No, sorry." or a negative "No, sorry." in the end someone will do whatever they intended to do and will not leave unless they need a reason to leave in the first place.

We need to know if it's okay for high level characters going back to low level dungeons and block all the content for the appropriate level people. If this is mentioned as part of the Play Nice policy then at least we can be "positive" when we approach that person because if Play Nice says priority for people who can get XP the high level player will have to leave because if he doesn't a GM will intervene.

PhantomGhost You are saying that because you plan to exploit it. You probably plan to hit high level faster than everyone else. Being social has nothing to do with blocking content for everyone else. If you join the server 1 week late and you go to a dungeon and ALL the nameds are camped by high level players and the dungeon looks quiet and sad because no groups are there... how is that a good social environment? How is a high level guy going AFK killing one NPC in a whole camp (that is not cleared) a good social experience?

Lurex Power Gamers, Gold Sellers, Professionals who use the game to get real life money will always "come first" and perma camp the good spots. People who are casual and are normal people will always lose in this "debate".

Where did I say I plan to exploit it? I can tell you, with your great attitude, I wouldn't be willing to share the camp at all with you. (You might realize this is exactly what Sneers stated... You come at someone aggressively and negatively and you get that same energy back).

People like you who immediately assume everyone is evil and unwilling to negotiate or share are the real problem.

Also, answered your question in my original post. If the guy is afk camping the single named, you could politely ask to kill other npc around the camp if you want the camp for XP.

It's clearly written in the Contested Content and Competition part of the PNP. It's also written what you cannot do to lock down a camp. Also, written what causes you to lose priority.

Losing priority would be the most open ended portion of this policy: Completing your intended purpose and moving on. Purpose for farming a single mob over and over could vary as long as it's not selling loot rights, which is prohibited. This could be the difference of farming a drop 1x versus more than 1x.

It's not written to state, if you ever want to farm an item you out level, start a character over or delevel and farm it while of level.

The Deep (Module 1) is basically doubling the content right? With 6 more modules to come, I highly doubt this will be an issue for the majority of the content as time goes on. Good gear will be all over the world.

Raven For someone who solos this usually is the only way to see the content, so because I solo I should be punished? That's anegative mentality to begin with. Most people that usually state as such, though not saying it's the case here, are just entitled and when it goes the other way in their favor whos the quick one ti say no now? Placing this into a PnP will destroy the game ad a whole. Just because I couldn't solo at level doesn't give the right to keep me from it.

Your last paragraph is exactly the attitude I get from those players "I'm a kind God.. I allow you to XP while I block the content for you. Sucks for you for not being able to level as fast as I did. Now I get to perma-camp your content that is now way past my level."

Sneers You're allowed to solo anything that gives you XP. I'm talking about people who are way higher level than the content. Would you agree with me that if monsters don't give you XP you don't get to go camp their loot to sell?

I'm just going to state the things you already know because some of you are discussing this in bad faith:

There is no level requirement for camps. So long as you are present and actively engaging with the camp, that camp is yours.

If you are monopolizing a camp, we will look into it. I have and will continue to investigate matters like that and I have asked people to move along.

We actively and aggressively go after RMT. We aren't going to be 100% but we certainly won't be ignoring it.

You should not have an expectation to be able to see and do every bit of content. You compete for it just like everyone else and sometimes you do not win.

These are core gameplay mechanics and policies. They are unlikely to change and certainly not in the near future.

You project a terrible attitude on everyone else apparently. You have to really reach to assume someone willing to share when they're not obligated to is doing so to be a "kind god". Meanwhile arguing for a rule to be made that if you benefit more from an encounter it should be given to you willingly or forcefully.

I've killed 1 named in AC only, I don't even know the dungeons boss layouts. If my plan was to take advantage, I would have put more effort into plotting this out in beta so I can rush to beat everyone else so I can camp their precious named spawns.

Doesn't matter, the rules are clearly not on your side.
