Elementalists need the root spell

drutten

having root would help the group with more CC when not usung a earthpet, then just nuke and send in pets in fights. This would make the class more rounded then it is today.

Zaroua

They already have it. Earth pet can root.

Kirrund

Zaroua They effectively don't have it 99% of the time.

Zaroua

Kirrund They effectively don't have it 99% of the time.

User error. If your group needs extra CC, use your earth pet.

Kirrund

Zaroua No, it's just illogical from a game design standpoint. Even paladins have root. No other class has to use an objectively worse ability and jump through hoops just to gain something basic many classes have. But I know that I won't convince you, and it really doesn't matter. If the only way that necromancers had root was by using their ghoul pet, you might have a point. But no, they don't have to do that, for completely arbitrary reasons. They just get both.

Xyshina

Thematically it is kinda silly that pallys have root and elementalists don’t (outside of pet)

Sneers

Xyshina pally shouldn't have root, though it is a suggestive. But Ele should definitely not have root, we have earth pet for that.

Kirrund

Sneers Can you give a good reason why?

Raybane

drutten Wizards would also be more well rounded if they got a pet alongside root.

Kirrund

Raybane I see, so root is the defining feature of wizards? I wasn't aware it was the same as the class defining feature of pets as elementalists.

Raybane

Kirrund It is the defining defensive spell for Wizards, yes. The other option is to face tank the damage just as an Elementalist without a pet.

Zaroua

Kirrund Can you give a good reason why?

They're not nature themed or earth themed. Another tank having CC steps on the Inquisitor's toes. They already have Lull for pulling utility.

Kirrund

Raybane It's not. Root is a common spell. It's not class defining or unique to wizards.

Raybane

Kirrund Other classes then Elementalists got pets as well.

Velthorian

never happen. magician never had cc in eq. won't here either. be glad we got chill, pet tanks 2-3 like a boss at lower levels, don't know about later. aggro camping is easy enough.

Aikons

I think if the Elementalist had CC, they could always ensure their pet fights one mob at a time while extras are locked down, which makes soloing very clean and efficient. That efficiency would force the pet to be weaker to compensate for balance. Without CC, messy situations happen, and that messiness is what gives them room to make the pet genuinely strong without it being unbalanced.

The weaker the pet, sure give em root.
The stronger the pet, root would be fuel to the fire.

Kirrund

Raybane And those classes can also still do all the things, on their own, without having to have a certain pet out to do the thing. Their pets are just as good, too.

Sneers

Kirrund Spiritual/religious magic usually doesn't. All about light and stuns. But it is their vision, just in a norm doesn't compute

Phlyn

drutten

i disagree, root/CC isn't something ele needs in its kit.

every class can not have every tool otherwise you end up entirely homogeneous

Kirrund

Phlyn Right, only elementalist shouldn't get it. We might risk homogenization if every caster got a basic, low level spell tool that is the defining feature of no class in the game.
