We are still talking about this? Drutten hasn't followed up on this thread. Elementalists already can do virtually everything in some form, outside teleporting and stat buffing others. Heal self, heal pet, snare, mana regen, DS, etc... Each class should have a weakness of some sort, IMHO.

From my very first post it was theorycrafting on ideas for game design changes related to the class. Instead of just insulting people, shutting down their comments because they don't align with your "this is how EQ did it" philosophy.

I don't need to offer a reason for why Ele need some form of CC. They barely have any interrupts or cc, that is reason enough. And even if it wasn't, I am talking about the design of the class and game mechanics that would be interesting to see. You're just walking in here and trash talking anyone whose comment doesn't align with your thought process.

And I never said I wanted it now, that isn't even how the devs on this game work to begin with, and you should know that by now. How the hell is a rogue resurrecting people in the same ballpark as discussing root on an elementalist???

No one's insulted you. And when you post suggestions to a public board, expect feedback on them.

This is a bad idea. Creating classes that are "sort of" good at most everything is class homogenization. Elementalists are already one of the very best at soloing, extremely high DPS in groups, and can tank, add mana regen, and even heal to a degree (the currently comically overpowered bandages). If they can CC as well, there's literally nothing they can't "sort of" do.

It's called refutation by analogy. The same rationale you used to justify root for elies applies equally to rogues being able to res: "I can't do it now, but it would really help me if I could." The only other reason that's been given -- "a lot of other classes can root!" -- is actually an argument for removing root from some of those classes, rather than giving it to even more.

They can to a degree now, Earth can root and has manual usage. It is only one mob, but it's a form of CC

And my suggestion if you want the idea to get more support is to start with what problem there is that needs fixing, like if Elementalist's struggles solo or in group. If neither of those are issues, then why buff the class?

Others have it and I want it too is a terrible reason from game design perspective as diluting class identity is not a good idea.

You are quick to just smack someone down for an idea they have in a dismissive strawman argument. I truly do not care what you have to say anymore. No one is bullying, and I'm certainly not backpedaling. As I said in my first post, giving elementalists root is a very bad idea that causes class homogenization, and an idea for which you've given no justification whatsoever except that you want it.

Velthorian Yeah Glass Flats and the Salt Eles are a good position, hell they even have 3 islands in SGS that are good for lower levels to manipulate elementals. very good kit to use around those areas for sure.

Kirrund not true at all, I have well had an Ele at that stretch of level and it is all still relevant. I use Earth 99% of the time, which seems like it changed since the update I haven't tried yet with the elementals being given at odd levels ( which also doesn't make sense since they are same level as you why not just get the level 1 one and run with it for life. sorry rambling at this point ) and I just DS, Ele break, and either sit and medd or auto attack. The combat with pets and Earth needs a relook for sure, it's too strong. I can just whoop a yellow at level and db at cusp, so the level doesn't matter the content is the same all the way up.

Fell bandages are not overpowered, when factored into the class as a whole. They feel good, they just "don't suck" if they where much less efficient they would not be used at all. It's one of the things they got right.

Sneers will always be relegated to "Group only" for ele's, we don't have the kit to deal with charm breaks on our own. Even if we can mez our charmed elemental, we are defenseless to whatever it was fighting now chasing us too. I don't really have a problem with this though, it seems factored into risk/reward.

LOL, I'm sorry but peppering a player with bandages when they're literally fighting a mob is absurd beyond words. At the VERY least, it should be limited to out of combat.

You use what good enchanters use when charm soloing -- distance. That doesn't allow you to solo in dungeons, of course -- but on the salt flats in GF? Sure.

Fell Yeah, I agree. Not only is it a fantastic tool in parties where the ele can just med near the tank and pump bandages while popping up to blast now and then, but it also heals for a lot compared to damage done. Ive noticed Cotton at level was pumping almost 20% health and Linen was doing more, its wild.

Being solo it's a must staple, but as a group its 100% OP

Kirrund I did it all the way up to 52 when i left and gave my gear to a starting Ele. Earth is very durable, at least 2x the hp and defense for sure. I don't understand why most soloist Eles don't use them, but yeah they are crazy durable.

Now mind you this was before the revamp, and I haven't touched the new class since due to giving away my gear, but Earth soloists don't have to do much but heal with bandages, DS, and CC root an off target. I would rotate like this about 30x until oom and do it all over again. It's ridiculous how easy it was.
