Enchanter Deep Dive: THE AFTERMATH

Fell

@Maple yep just tested it myself. It appears to be about a 5% chance to fire (maybe level diff based?) but the mob actually has to do damage to you -- if you have runeskin on, it won't activate.

Zaroua

turtle why would you ever bother charming mobs when you're in a group?

To get to 60.

Wintari

could have been alot better, instead we got this. wonderful. so glad they listened to the community on this one.

turtle

Zaroua

I'm level 39 and the best mobs I can charm are 35, which do less damage than my Shadowkin.

What exactly did you mean?

Fell

@turtle yes your reasoning is quite correct. But I assume that the level 52 cap on 60 charm was to prevent the insane damage a 55+ charm pet would do. Now, post nerf, I would think they'd raise the cap.

Fun fact for lower-level enchanters: even PRE-nerf, there were times when a summon pet out-damaged a 52 charm pet, i.e. when fighting level 61-63 mobs. The charm pet still had triple the max hit damage ... but would miss 99 times out of 100.

Rougar0u

It's 80 percent pure ass minus group buffs

riverbender

Maple
and if we're honest there's probably a second enchanter in the group to begin with

Tyr

Rip, another one joins the post rework class graveyard, I guess this raises INQ stonks at least. Not that it’s going to be terrible power wise but man how boring…..wtf will want to play this shit and be super excited to buff and have a summoned pet and cast mez/stun every once in a while, a big nope for me at least.

Solo charming prob still relevant since you can have them kill each other, otherwise I don’t see why you would in a group setting at current balance level

Didn't realize Charm spell ranks were messed up to that degree. Hopefully the spell line gets a tuning pass before EA.

Tyr otherwise I don’t see why you would in a group setting at current balance level

Mez, Lull, Haste, Tranquility, Slow, Enfeeble, AoE stun spam, mana transfer, mana burn. Enchanters are still the best class in the game until someone else can compete on CC. I guess Inquisitors could be a poor man's Enchanter on the CC front.

Tyr

Zaroua I was talking about charm in groups….read again? Class is good still just boring which is actually worse imo. I get what they’re trying to do with all of these reworks but I don’t agree. The gameplay is going in a worse direction, time will tell though hope I’m wrong

Zaroua

Recharge Item still doesn't work post rework. I'm trying to recharge a Wand of Life Drain and it didn't work before, and still doesn't now. Tried targeting, holding, and putting the item on the ground.

sugernips

Zaroua they nerf m,ana transfer to its a 30 sec coold down now

Zaroua

sugernips
It's also a hell of lot more mana transferred per cast. Overall nerf to transferring mana in a hurry when things go bad, but overall QoL for general play. Sandwich combat and all that.

Moarcrits

Mesh Yeah thats 100% not the case lmao. And bards arent Enchanters, their mana being affected by Cha separates them from being an INT class because they ARENT casters, they are their own archetype by singing/instruments.

Yamzprime

yep. straight into the trash

Allinon-Nurgle

Tyr Yep got gutted, charm is worthless if it breaks every 30 secs.. Plus they nerfed the charmed pet, and nerfed what level you can charm.

Tyr

Allinon-Nurgle Yeah man. All my posts are doomed posts lately (hate that) but I fear with most of these reworks/changes they’re even nerfing people out of playing the game at launch at all. It’s really hard for me lately to not consider waiting.

I don’t see how they’ll address all of these issues with gameplay and balance this will create in a timely manner but I’m hoping to be proven wrong and in general people show up and pay to play.

Uberhalf

Tyr Pretty sad that the game peaked in March before it was ever even released. Can someone start up a fan server that has all the classes pre rework lol? I'm joking obviously, but I do really miss the classes as they were before the changes. Some of them changed for the better, but I feel like most of them have been negative changes.

Transcendent

Allinon-Nurgle Yeah, I was going to main Enchanter as it has always been my favorite. But this gives me the vibes of being a buff bot from old raiding days of classic era EQ and beyond. Most of the time you don't contribute directly to anything. Charm was reduced to dire charm which was so specific and limited in number of enchanters that could use it at once it was useless, CC was reduced to multi-tanking / off-tanking, nukes and dots were basically meaningless, casted pet may as well not been in the game, resists and aggro incredibly high for little to positive effect. The class was gutted by degrees, it seems here they're doing a speedrun.

Let's keep up the drumbeat then. The core problem isn't charm dps (though that needs addressing) -- the core problem is that crowd control needs to an integral game requirement, at least for dungeon camps. So far, the only zone in game that actually needs enchanter-level crowd control is FW ... and I hear rumors they're going to put training wheels on that zone too, and nerf it into oblivion.
