Tsunamisan I don't really agree with this, for a few simple reasons. Making it a Ritual just further limits it for no reason. The only abuse senario is camped mages at raid target/safe room. If you can camp a mage, you can camp 3 dummies next to him to make the ritual work, it does not address the primary abuse mechanism, while just making the spell a pain in the ass to use otherwise. Nah, EQ had it right, turn it off completely where i'ts not wanted, and allow it to work in a relatively unfettered way, elsewhere. So much fractured experiences from EQ, some might remember COTH as a problem, but did not stick around for the solution, that came, and worked.
There are novel solutions that can be explored. For example, allow swapping 2 players, but not pulling a single. That means a player has to be standing in front of you to swap. This is still quite irritating, but better then nothing. As now the outgoing party member must wait for the rep to arrive in dungeon. But at least it is a method of action to get REPS in a group, that is more resistant to abuse. This pretty much kills the spell completely for snagging lost raid members. (not completely, could always swap a last noob for a veteran rogue that might be able to find his way back alone)But does still allow for rapid party replacement. (it's primary function, used by 90% of playerbase).
That interaction would work similar to, "I got 10 minutes guys, reps on the way" >>> rep shows up >> cast spell on both players (this will need some creative mechanism) dialog box shows up on both players screen "Do you want to swap location with player xyz" they hit ok, one player gets pulled from start of dungeon and other player gets teleported to his spot. How you gonna abuse this in a raid? (there might be a legitimate way to abuse this mechanism that im not thinking about, this is a real question) The "Reagent" for the spell is another player.
Im not super excited about the spell being limited in this way, but if it's this or nothing i'll take it, as it still covers 90% of the core use/day to day functionality of what the spell is expected to do.
If we are going full try hard mode, I guess it's possible to camp 40 mules with the mage, so that he can swap an entire raid out lol, that's alotta work bro.
